Spirit Airlines preparing to furlough 1,800 flight attendants

(Reuters) -Spirit Airlines said on Monday it is preparing to furlough 1,800 flight attendants effective December 1, after filing for its second bankruptcy in a year, as the low budget carrier grapples with dwindling cash and mounting losses.

Spirit filed for bankruptcy again last month after a previous reorganization failed to put it on firmer financial footing.

The company also planned to slash seating capacity 25% year-over-year by November, according to a memo seen by Reuters last week.
