A note from our friends at MarketWise(ad)

Editor’s Note: You may recognize Marc Chaikin’s name from his appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg, or Fox Business. His client list has included billionaires such as Paul Tudor Jones, Steve Cohen, and George Soros. His Power Gauge system flashed bullish on Nvidia right before it rose 50,001%. And it just flashed bullish on another off-the-radar AI stock poised to trigger a $248 trillion “White Swan” event as soon as November 16. See below for Marc’s research and free recommendation.

Dear Reader,

The AI game is changing.

New leaders are emerging quickly.

And I can assure you: My research shows Nvidia will NOT be the #1 AI stock of 2027.

I say that with confidence because my Power Gauge system pinpointed Nvidia before it delivered 50,001% gains.

And now it’s pointing to an entirely different AI stock…

One almost no Americans have heard of yet…

But given the data I’m seeing right now…

Given the massive data center crisis facing America…

I can confidently say: This company stands to dominate the AI landscape in 2027.

Why? It’s about to launch an entirely new kind of AI data center…

One that solves every major problem facing data centers today.

This next-gen data center uses 99% less electricity than Elon Musk’s Colossus, for example…

It takes up 99% less space…

Yet this company’s new data center will be over 1,000 times more powerful than the biggest data center on earth right now (Elon Musk’s Colossus, in Tennessee).

Even better, the company supplying the tech just triggered a “bullish” signal in my Power Gauge…

Now, it’s about to bring this device to life with the flip of an “on switch.”

I anticipate a major announcement on or before November 16, when the company unveils its latest technology at the TERATEC Forum in Paris.

The time to get in is right now – before any potential news goes public.

That’s why I’ve created this brand-new presentation, revealing everything you need to know.

Not only do I explain how today’s data centers are in danger of a massive $250 trillion disruption…

Which I’m calling the AI White Swan of 2027…

I reveal the name and ticker symbol of my latest recommendation for FREE, toward the end of the presentation.

If you want the chance to make money on AI going forward, I urge you to check it out now.

Sincerely,

Marc Chaikin

Volvo Cars Down 28% on SEK 3.7bn Loss. Mercedes Reports in Five Days.

Volvo Cars delivered the sharpest single-session drop in its listed history this morning. VOLCAR-B presented results revealing a steep operational loss of SEK 3.7 billion as management described a business environment “much worse than anticipated.” The shares fell as much as 28% intraday and were still down roughly 21% at mid-session, trading near a 52-week low. For active traders positioned in European premium autos ahead of a dense reporting week, the read-across is the only number that matters.

  • Core EBIT swung from a SEK 5.8bn profit to a SEK 3.7bn loss year over year; margin collapsed from +6.7% to -5.6%
  • Full operating loss including comparability items reached SEK 5.6bn versus a profit of SEK 6.4bn a year earlier
  • Retail sales fell 11% to about 141,600 units; revenue dropped to SEK 66.9bn from SEK 86.4bn
  • Volvo Cars faced hypercompetition in China from new domestic alternatives; revenues in China fell by almost 50% year on year
  • A SEK 1.1bn hit from a CAFE credit revaluation due to US legislation changes and a SEK 0.9bn negative effect from Polestar losses compounded the core pressure
  • Free cash flow was negative SEK 8.9bn versus negative SEK 4.3bn a year earlier
  • 2,500 jobs will be lost globally, of which 2,000 are in Sweden

What the Numbers Say About the Sector

The Volvo results are not a company-specific story. In China, management acknowledged the market is “sharply down with local players increasing share” and that “profitability of western premium brands declining rapidly.” That framing applies to every Western nameplate competing in the Chinese premium segment, and it lands five days before Mercedes-Benz reports Q3 results.

On 28 October 2026, Mercedes-Benz Group AG will publish its Q3 results. BMW Q3 figures follow on 4 November. Both stocks are already badly damaged.

The damage was already being priced in before today. BMW now expects its automotive EBIT margin to fall to between 1% and 3% for the full year, down from its previous guidance of 4% to 6%. Mercedes reported Q2 BEV car sales grew 51% year over year, driven by Europe, but total car sales declined 8%, with sales outside China up 2%. The Q3 release will reveal whether China deteriorated at a Volvo-scale pace through July to September.

Mercedes shares the same China exposure and Middle East sensitivity as BMW, making it a natural proxy for investors seeking to reduce European premium auto weightings. A Q3 revenue miss or a China volume figure in the 40%-plus decline range would confirm the pressure is structural, not cyclical.

Technical and Positioning Framework

VOLCAR-B gapped through every meaningful support level on open and is now trading below its 52-week low. Gap fills on moves of this magnitude typically take weeks, not days, and require a positive catalyst the company has not yet provided. The stock has no guidance: Volvo withdrew its previous 2026 outlook for both vehicle volumes and cash flow and has decided not to replace it with a new short-term forecast, citing heightened market uncertainty.

For BMW and Mercedes, the key levels heading into earnings are the year-to-date lows established after the June BMW profit warning. That warning took BMW shares to their lowest level since late 2020 and weighed on shares across the European auto sector. A second leg lower on a Mercedes Q3 miss would test whether that June low holds as structural support or breaks into fresh multi-year lows.

Scenario Modeling

Bull Case

Mercedes Q3 results on October 28 show China volume declines materially shallower than Volvo’s, confirming brand-specific rather than market-wide deterioration. Cost-cut progress ahead of schedule and BEV mix improvement provide a modest upside surprise. BMW and Mercedes stabilize at current levels; VOLCAR-B recovers 8 to 10% from the session low as the worst-case cross-read is priced out.

Base Case

Mercedes confirms China revenue pressure in the 20 to 30% range, consistent with what BMW’s mid-year warning telegraphed. Guidance is maintained but the quality of the earnings is weak. Both German names trade sideways into BMW’s November 4 report, with VOLCAR-B finding no catalyst to recover more than 5 to 7% from today’s lows.

Bear Case

Mercedes China volumes approach Volvo-scale declines, triggering a fresh guidance cut. At BMW’s current 1% floor on automotive EBIT margin, any single adverse event tips the automotive division into operating losses. A miss of that magnitude sends BMW below the June 2026 lows and puts VOLCAR-B at risk of further institutional selling as cross-sector risk reduction accelerates.

Active Trader Considerations

The asymmetry here is straightforward: the downside scenarios are quantifiable and the catalysts are dated. October 28 is Mercedes Q3, October 29 is the ECB rate decision, and November 4 is BMW’s quarterly statement. Volatility into those dates is likely to expand. Traders with existing exposure to European autos should map positions against those three dates explicitly. Volvo’s own forward guidance flags that short-term volumes remain “severely challenged” with continued weakness in China, delayed EX60 financial contribution, and slower-than-expected US recovery, removing any near-term fundamental support for the name.

Preparation here means knowing your risk parameters before October 28 opens in Frankfurt, not after Mercedes speaks. This week’s session is the data. Next week is the test.
