TXN Into July 22: The Two Numbers

One report. Two demand signals. Clean levels to trade around.

Texas Instruments (NASDAQ: TXN) does not sell the headline AI parts. No GPUs, no HBM, no shiny custom accelerators.

Yet the company is walking into July 22, 2026 with one of the cleanest “expectations shift” charts in semis, because the demand mix underneath it has quietly changed. The earnings call is scheduled for 3:30 PM CDT. That timestamp matters if you trade the after-hours move. (TI IR)

Market Snapshot

Here’s the environment I care about into this report: it favors stock-specific trading more than broad index guessing. Earnings season compresses time. If you are right on the catalyst but wrong on the timing, it still feels like being wrong.

Semis have been rewarding companies that can show (1) real end-demand and (2) improving utilization, not just “AI adjacency.” TXN fits that theme because it is tied to both data center power and a potential industrial recovery. That combination is rare for a large analog name.

Why This Stock Is in Focus

TI already told the market what it expects for Q2, and the range is wide enough that the reaction will be about direction, not precision.

From the company’s April 22, 2026 release: Q2 revenue guidance is $5.00B to $5.40B, and EPS guidance is $1.77 to $2.05. (SEC Exhibit 99)

Also from that same release: Q1 2026 revenue was $4.825B and EPS was $1.68, with management explicitly calling out growth led by industrial and data center. That tells you where management wants you looking. (SEC Exhibit 99)

Man who Predicted Trump 2016 Win: “Prepare for Mid-Term Meltdown”

In 2016, one major election model gave Hillary Clinton more than a 99% chance of winning right up until election night.

But right before the election…

Former advisor to the CIA, the Pentagon and the White House Jim Rickards went on multiple TV news programs…

And predicted Trump would win.

What he’s predicting now is even more shocking.

Click here to see it because it’s a BOMBSHELL… And it could soon send shockwaves through the financial markets.

Technical Picture

I’m not going to pretend a single indicator “solves” an earnings event. It does not. What charts do well is define where you are wrong quickly.

Framework into the event (plain language): TXN has been trending higher, and that trend has been supported by the market accepting higher expectations for the next leg of the cycle. Into a binary catalyst, I want levels that are obvious enough to manage risk, but not so tight that normal earnings volatility knocks you out instantly.

  • Immediate reference level: the post-earnings opening range (next session after July 22) tends to set the tone for 1 to 5 days.
  • Support concept: prior breakout zone from the last earnings reaction (if the stock gives that back quickly, it is often “expectations reset” behavior).
  • Resistance concept: prior swing high into earnings (if it clears and holds, shorts and underweight funds often chase).

If you want one simple confirmation signal: look for follow-through volume on day two. Day one can be positioning. Day two is usually real money agreeing or disagreeing.

Catalyst

The core catalyst is not “AI” in the headline sense. It is the less glamorous requirement: power conversion, power management, and signal integrity that sits around compute. As power density rises in data centers, that analog content becomes more important, not less.

We have one hard, current anchor from the company: in Q1 2026, management said year-over-year growth was led by industrial and data center. (SEC Exhibit 99)

The other near-term catalyst is not product. It is people. TI announced on June 2, 2026 that Julie Knecht will become CFO effective August 1, 2026, and Rafael Lizardi plans to retire, with support through August 31, 2026. That puts extra attention on this July 22 guidance discussion. (TI press release)

Risk Assessment

Two ways this trade idea fails fast over the next one to five sessions:

  • Data center growth decelerates sharply and the market reads it as a one-time surge rather than a durable demand leg.
  • Industrial does not broaden, so the “two-engine” expectation collapses back to a single demand driver.

A third risk that is easy to ignore: earnings reactions can be “good number, bad reaction” when positioning is crowded. That is why the opening range and day-two follow-through matter more than your personal opinion about the quarter.

Trader’s Checklist

  • July 22 (after the close): Does management commentary keep emphasizing industrial plus data center as the leaders?
  • Guidance delta: Does the next-quarter outlook imply improving utilization, or does it read cautious?
  • Price action: Where is the post-earnings opening range, and does the stock hold it into the close?
  • Volume: Is day-two volume confirming the direction, or fading it?
  • Risk line: Identify the nearest prior breakout area and define, in advance, what “invalidated” looks like for you.

Slight tangent, but it matters: I care less about whether TXN “beats” and more about whether the market believes the next incremental buyer has a reason to step in. That is what creates the multi-day move.

Worth watching into July 22: the stock can move hard in either direction even if the quarter is fine, because expectations are the real product being traded here.
